LEOS (Lasers and Electro-Optics Society) is a world-wide society of the IEEE with fields of interest: lasers, optical devices, optical fibers, and associated lightwave technology and their applications in systems and subsystems in which quantum electronics devices are key elements. The Society is concerned with the research, development, design, manufacture, and applications of materials, devices and systems, and with the various scientific and technological activities which contribute to the useful expansion of the field of quantum electronics and applications.

The Benelux Chapter was founded in 1996. The Chapter promotes in the Benelux countries the exchange of information between the industry and the knowledge institutes in the LEOS fields of interest. Activities include presentation by guest speakers, Annual Workshop, meetings and the Annual Symposium.
The "11th IEEE/LEOS Benelux Annual Workshop" has been held on May 25th, 2007 in the Zwarte Doos at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
The annual symposium of LEOS Benelux will be organized by Twente University and will be held in Enschede, the Netherlands, on November 27+28, 2008.
